Our Story
Encounter Ministries is operated by Men of Purpose LLC, a 501 © (3) non-profit Christian ministry founded in 2014 in Northern Nevada. Its purpose is to establish a means for bringing an Encounter to every church in the Reno/Sparks, Nevada area. Since its inception it has grown to include Encounters in California, Nevada, Texas, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. Ultimately, and with God’s direction, we will reach the entire nation and the world.
Growth has spurned the development of Women’s Encounter and Youth Encounter. On the horizon we are working towards a Couple’s Encounter. Our belief and our purpose is to offer men and women the opportunity to passionately serve their spouses, families and churches. Encounter is one facet that establishes us as a partner for local churches in areas that include compassionate care, prayerful support and discipleship, thereby satisfying our mission to serve every community through Christ.
Statement of Faith
Our beliefs
God
We believe that there is one true holy God who is Trinity, existing eternally as three equal and distinct persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God continues, through his providence and power to care for and sustain His creation.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity, came to Earth through the virgin birth as a man. He lived a perfect life, which he gave upon the Cross. Three days after his physical death, Jesus returned and ascended to sit at the right hand of the Father, promising to send the Holy Spirit and to return and fulfill God’s eternal plan. Jesus is the only intercessor between man and God and therefore the only way to salvation.
The Bible
The Bible is the core truth of our ministry. We believe the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments to be infallible and inerrant truth given to man by God through His Holy Spirit.
Salvation
Salvation is God’s free gift, but we must first accept it. We believe God desires all to be in eternal fellowship with Him, therefore through faith in His saving grace we can repent and be reconciled to him forever.
Ministry
Before leaving, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to empower men and women to continue his work in the world. The Holy Spirit is our sole source of hope, strength, wisdom, and joy. He gifts us with the ability to love, serve, and build the Kingdom beyond our own ability.
The Church
All who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are united with him as members of his Body, the Church. The Church exists wherever God’s people meet to worship, pray, serve each other, and study His word.
Baptism
We believe the purpose of baptism is to publicly declare oneself as a believer in Jesus Christ. It is ultimately an act of obedience as all are commanded; symbolizing spiritual cleansing as one chooses to accept God’s forgiveness and rebirth as one joins in His resurrection.
